TRANSFORMING STRESS AND ANXIETY into
PEACE AND CALM

The more I free myself from the grip of ongoing stress and anxiety, the more I understand the powerful negative impact it has had on my life.  The more I experience this freedom from stress and anxiety the more I  want to share the learning and techniques that worked for me, to help you attain the same freedom.

Stress and anxiety:

  • are the root causes for many illness
  • keep you awake at night
  • block creativity and productivity
  • rob you of the feeling of natural ease and calm
  • prevent you from enjoying life and living authentically
  • destroy relationships
     

Stress and Anxiety are not who you are!

Stress and anxiety are held in the mind, body and breath.  You can transform these patterns by learning to evoke a state of parasympathetic dominance in your nervous system.  When you live more peacefully and calmly you are able to have more access to your spiritual and creative nature, to live life more fully and to be comfortable in your own skin.  This transformation is a change that brings you more into alignment with your true self.

There are two options for learning to transform your stress.  Private sessions or group work.

12 WEEK CLASS

During this 12 week series you will experience potent tools for releasing the patterns of stress and anxiety from your body, your breathing and your mind while engaging in a process to bring about a tranformation.  If you suffer from insomnia you will experience tools to help you fall asleep, stay alseep and sleep more soundly.

Tools

1.  You will receive a set of BeCalm Balls (retail value $30) and training in how to use them to interrupt your stress cycle by triggering the body's natural ability to bring it to a standstill.  Lying on Becalm Balls produces a feeling of instant relaxation that deepens and grows into a profound state of absolute calm.  In this state the body is able to repair and renew itself.

2.  You experience mini-moves from the Sounder Sleep System™ that enable you to very quickly evoke the inhibitory aspect of your nervous system and enter a place of deep calm and peace.  These movements are so small and discreet that you can do them anywhere.

3.  Experience the ways in which  your body and breathing patterns hold and even cause anxiety.  We will use Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® (ATM) Lessons to explore these patterns and how the brain can change and become more available for organic learning. 

4.  We will use group sharing, meditation, visualization and journaling as needed.

Whether you experience low grade stress because of your work or lifestyle or more chronic anxiety, it is having an negative impact on your body, causing inflamation and other chronic problems. Freedom from patterns of anxiety and stress are a necessary step to opening to a more authentic and joyful life.

PRIVATE SESSIONS

Private sessions address your specific concerns tailoring each session for maximum benefit.    We choose from the tools used in the group sessions: BeCalm Balls  ,    Sounder Sleep System,   Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement as well as hands-on energy healing.

 

BEING BODIES, BEING MINDS

A training in meditation, present moment awareness and loving-kindness.

In the spiritual life being a body can be a mixed blessing. It is an excellent vehicle to practice meditation. It can also be uncomfortable and present various difficulties when we try and sit still and concentrate or even when walking.

The mind can also feel uncomfortable when it is distracted or even overwhelmed by thoughts, fantasies and worries.  We need easier access to a quieter mind to begin to understand the true power of our mind.

This series focuses on how to:

  • open the body to make meditation more comfortable physically and more easily accessible
  • use tools that quickly and effectively calm our nervous system and quiet the mind, leaving more time for meditation and less time for trying to quiet the mind
  • open the heart through loving kindness meditation

Each week you will learn Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement® lessons and/or Sounder Sleep System™ mini-moves to:

  • experience sensation as a direct link to the potency of the present moment
  • rest in this calm to support being  present with your thoughts and  emotions
  • experience more ease, freedom and physical comfort while meditating

Feldenkrais Awareness Through Movement lessons are created to bring us back into that state of open exploration of our sensing, thinking and feeling. They can be profoundly relaxing and often reduce or eliminate pain.                                          

The Sounder Sleep System Mini-moves are designed to bring quick access to the calm of the parasympathetic state.  I have had long-time meditators notice that these simple exercises bring them into a deeper state in 10 minutes than they opened to in 10 days of retreat.  From this state of calm one can then meditate more deeply.

You will use mindfulness of breathing, seeing, hearing, tasting, walking and loving-kindness meditations as the entry into meditation practice and to experience how easy and pleasant it can be to just breath and to just be

We use loving-kindness meditations to let go of negative emotions like hatred, greed and envy and to open the heart to loving kindness.  This is also an excellent concentration practice.

We use group sharing and support to practice mindfulness in relationship. 

This class is suitable for those who want to learn to meditate and for those who want more comfort and ease in their current practice.
